100% Protein French Toast is one of my Breakfast Staples… high in protein and carbs its the perfect morning fuel you need to start your day! You won’t even need to reach for that mid morning snack and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of calories within this breakfast (less than 300)!
I am certainly a breakfast girl, its probably my favourite meal of the day and one I just can’t skip. For me, breakfast needs to be a few key things:
I find if I get those things right then I’m on for the best start to the day. I add Protein to this recipe as I find with my fitness lifestyle I need a high amount of Protein to keep me full and when combined with the bread (carbs) I’m also provided with the energy I need for my workouts. French Toast is therefore a great pre-workout breakfast.
I have another protein french toast recipe on my blog which is very similar to this one.. Protein French Toffee Toast but this one is actually simpler, containing less ingredients and a slightly different flavour combo.
For the recipe you’ll need 5 key ingredients:
- Egg Whites
- Protein Powder
- Coconut Oil
You could however replace the protein powder for a superfood powder such as cacao powder or maca powder.
- 3 Slices of Bread
- 1 egg
- 2 egg whites
- 10g Protein Powder (any flavour)
- Coconut Oil for frying
- Optional Toppings: yoghurt, berries, honey etc
- Mix the egg, egg whites and protein powder in a bowl
- Dip the bread slices in the mixture and coat each side
- Fry the bread in the coconut oil
- Once the bread is fried place it on a plate and top with yoghurt, berries and honey or whatever takes your fancy!
